This Linkwood, matured for 10 years in a first-fill bourbon cask, was released by the independent bottler Signatory Vintage. Andrew Symington founded his company at the end of the 80s and has always maintained good contact with the distilleries. Today, he can call a warehouse of over 10,000 casks his own. This bottling belongs to Signatory's Cask Strength Collection, in which the whiskies were bottled directly at cask strength. They are especially recommended for advanced connoisseurs. All bottles bear precise information about the distillation and bottling dates as well as the casks.

Peter Brown founded the distillery in 1821. At its inception, the site had only two stills, and Whisky operation wasn't entirely legal yet. The distillery formally began operations in 1825, after Whisky distillation was legalized. Brown's original distillery operated with only one wash still and one spirit still.

Aroma: Süß mit viel Vanille und Honig, mit einer frischen, ordentlicher Portion Obst (Apfel, Birne und reife Banane).
Geschmack: Kräftig und voluminös, wieder süß mit Karamell und Honig, Äpfel werden dunkler, Holznoten kommen hinzu und Orangenschalen kommen dazu, ohne dass der Whisky unangenehm bitter wird.
Abgang: Kickt noch einmal hinterher, brennt und sticht aber nicht. Überraschend kurzer und milder Abgang, sehr schön gemacht.
Kommentar:
Tolles Teil! Ohne Wasser problemlos genießbar, aber das ist eine individuelle Sache.

Geschmack: Fruchtig mit Heidehonig und Vanille, Blumig gemischt mit etwas Holz

Aroma: ungewöhnlich rauchig, alkoholisch
Geschmack: pur ungenießbar, Rauchig, mit Wasser süßer
Abgang: lang, zarter Rauch, adstringierend trocken
Kommentar: schmeckt wie es-Islay cask, aber da first fill offenbar heftig ausgekohlte Fässer....
