This Craigellachie from the Exceptional Cask Series is produced as a limited batch. The unique specimen matured for 37 long years in Scottish refill casks and was refined in first-fill ex-Bourbon casks before it was bottled neither chill-filtered nor coloured with increased alcohol content.
Craigellachie means stony hill. The distillery continues to use traditional worm tubs to cool the distillate. They give the whisky a special Taste.

In the heart of the Speyside near the little town of Craigellachie/Banffshire lies a distillery that was founded in 1891 at the peak of the Whisky boom and survived until today. Craigellachie Distillery is situated on a hill and overlooks the town.The difficult Gaelic name means “Rocky Hill” and is pronounced Krai-GELLacky.

Aroma: Ananasbiskuit, Crème anglaise und Bananenbrot im Vordergrund, gefolgt von würzigen Vanillenoten, zarten Kokosnuancen und leichten Eichenholznoten.
Geschmack: Komplexes Mundgefühl – mit süßen Aromen, gefolgt von milder Säure von weichen Früchten.
Abgang: Lang, angenehm mit Anklängen von gerösteten Mandeln.

Taste: Geschmacks-Explosion, staubig, ledrige Noten, süßer Kürbis und herzhafte Gemüse Noten.
Finish: Sehr lang mit viel lieblicher, aromatischer Eichenfracht.
Comment: Für ein solch hohes Alter wirkt dieser Whisky niemals zu Fass-lastig. Die Wahl, amerikanische Eiche zu nutzen, statt im hohen Alter überladener europäischer Eiche ist hier definitiv eine richtige gewesen. Der Destilleriecharakter ist tatsächlich gegenüber dem Fass noch nicht ganz erloschen. Ein absoluter Traum eines jeden Whisky-Genießers.
