The approach of the Irish Waterford distillery to whisky production has been based on wine production since it was founded by Mark Reynier. The distillery team relies not only on barley sourced from regional farmers but also on scientific methods, such as locking the distillate on an olfactometer. Waterford's main focus is on capturing the terroir and biodynamics, which encompasses the natural factors of land, cultivation, barley type, climate and season. The Waterford Heritage: Hunter 1.1 uses the eponymous ancient barley variety, which was painstakingly grown and multiplied from just 50 grams of seed before there was enough for distillation. Only 50 barrels were ultimately distilled from the first harvest.

The Distillery: Waterford
The Waterford Distillery was created in 2015 by converting a former Guinness Brewery in Waterford, in the very south of Ireland. The distillery's founder Mark Reynier was formerly the mastermind behind the rebuilding of Islay Distillery Bruichladdich. The former Wine merchant approaches Whisky (spelled without an 'e', even if they come frome Ireland) production in a similar way to Wine production: He wants to capture the terroir, i.e. the origin-specific character of the grain, with his Whiskies.

Ein interessanter Tropfen den ich so noch nicht hatte. Auch die Flasche ist sehr wertig und optisch schön, so daß es auch ein optimales Geschenk mal ist. Auf jeden Fall eine Empfehlung l.

Aroma: Erdiger, trockener Boden mit Zitronenlimonade trifft auf rote Apfelschale und trockene Akzente von Rinde. Dazu Scheunenaroma, Petrichor, gerollte Gerste und gebackenes Salz mit Kalknoten.
Geschmack: Orangenkuchen mit trockenen, herzhaften Gewürzen gefolgt von Porridge mit Pflaumen. Facetten von Holzkohle und Zitrusöl vermählen sich mit einem Hauch Nelke.
Abgang: Trocken und frisch mit subtiler Würze.

Daraus wurde dieser außergewöhnliche Whisky gebrannt!
Man solte das Glas eine halbe Stunde stehen lassen, damit er wie ein Wein atmen kann.
Der Whisky ist was ganz besonderes, ein außergewöhnliches Geschmackserlebnis für so einen Teenager.
