Aroma Summery with hints of marzipan, honey, heather, dry clay, rhubarb, fennel, orange zest, barley, sherry and rose water.
Taste White pepper with notes of sorbet, orange marmalade, dark chocolate, rhubarb compote, cherries, fresh bread and nuances of paprika and clove sweets.
Finish Long with dark chocolate and orange spice.
Maturation French red wine barrels, Vin Doux Naturel sherry barrels, Virgin Oak and First Fill bourbon barrels

Product description
For Ballyroe Edition 1.1, the barley is grown on Simon Neville's challenging land and sourced from the distillery. For maturation, 24% of the casks are made of French premium oak, in which French Mouton Rothschild red wine was previously stored. Further, 19% of the whisky was matured in Vin Doux Naturel sherry casks, 21% in new American oak casks and 36% in first-fill bourbon casks.

The Waterford Distillery was created in 2015 by converting a former Guinness Brewery in Waterford, in the very south of Ireland. The distillery's founder Mark Reynier was formerly the mastermind behind the rebuilding of Islay Distillery Bruichladdich. The former Wine merchant approaches Whisky (spelled without an 'e', even if they come frome Ireland) production in a similar way to Wine production: He wants to capture the terroir, i.e. the origin-specific character of the grain, with his Whiskies. read more

Abgang: Chocolate Sherry

Kommentar: Es schmeckt nicht direkt nach Kuchen. Jedoch ist es nicht diese "standard" Süße, sondern eine etwas mildere und langanhaltende Süße, wie man sie beispielsweise von Brownies kennt.

Wir bekamen überraschend Besuch von meinen Freundinnen.
Bei den Südlichen Damen ist es üblich, einen Johnnie Walker mit Freunden zu trinken.
Mein Mann machte seine Schatztruhe auf und stellte eine Flasche Waterford Ballyroe auf den Tisch.
Was für ein guter Whisky….
So einen jungen guten Malt Whisky haben wir noch nie getrunken…
Nach 3 Stunden gemütlichen Ferien war die Flasche leer.
Besser geht es nicht.

Aroma: Wie eine Meeresbrise

Geschmack: irgendwie prickelnd, erfrischend, floral, etwas süßlich - sehr vielfältig. Erinnert mich etwas an Oban.

Abgang: Aromen von Eiche. Nicht extrem lang

Kommentar: War bisher kein großer Fan von irischem Whisky aber hier muss ich zugeben das hat was. Alkohol gut eingebunden - macht Spaß!
