Mackmyra Svensk Ek is the successor of the 1st Edition. In contrast to the old bottling, the proportion of Swedish oak casks has been doubled. The idea to distil a Swedish whisky was born during a skiing trip of eight friends in 1998. Each brought a bottle of whisky with him and so the conversations revolved around whisky. This gave rise to the Mackmyra Bruk distillery, which produces its whisky using only local ingredients and no colouring. The founders have also immortalised themselves in the bottle design: For each of the eight friends, there is a dent - 'a fingerprint, so to speak' - in the lower part of the bottle.

Mackmyra Distillery used to work in an old mill and stopped production in 2011. The new distillery called Mackmyra Gravity started without delay. Today there are Whiskies from both distilleries on the market.

Aroma: Kräftige Holzaromen, schwarzer Pfeffer, Banane.
Geschmack: Balance zwischen Würze und milder Süsse, Gewürze und tropische Früchte.
Abgang: Langer Abgang, sehr angenehm, die Süsse bleibt lange im Mund.
Kommentar: Ein toller und sehr intensiver Mackmyra, obwohl nur 10% Anteil an schwedischer Eiche.
Geschmack: Balance zwischen Würze und milder Süsse, Gewürze und tropische Früchte.
Abgang: Langer Abgang, sehr angenehm, die Süsse bleibt lange im Mund.
Kommentar: Ein toller und sehr intensiver Mackmyra, obwohl nur 10% Anteil an schwedischer Eiche.

Aroma: Vanillig süß, ganz leicht getreidig, leicht fruchtig
Geschmack: Primär würzig, etwas süß, nicht fruchtig und bei Folgeschlücken auch etwas Eichenbitter.
Abgang: Wird zartbitter mit dunkler Schokolade und vielleicht etwas Kaffeebohnen.
Kommentar: Ganz OK! Nichts besonderes zu berichten. Solide zu trinken, vielleicht etwas zu bitter nach dem vierten mal nippen.
