Bladnoch Samsara was bottled to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the distillery. Since 2015, Bladnoch has been owned by the Australian private entrepreneur David Prior. After several years of closure, whisky can now finally be distilled again under Master Distiller Nick Savage. The whisky contained in Samsara is still from the old production times.

Bladnoch was founded in 1817 by the brothers John and Thomas McClelland. The distillery is the most southern active distillery there is in Scotland. It lies right next to the river that is also called Bladnoch.

Kommentar: Natürlich für einen NAS zu teuer, aber es ist ein Bladnoch. Keine andere Destille verkörpert so sehr die Lowlands - floral, leicht, komplex.
Kingsbarns hat das florale, aber (noch) nicht die Komplexität, Lindores fehlt die Leichtigkeit, Glasgow zu jung, Glenkinchie & Auchentoshan zu einfach. Und der Rest ist zu jung, zu teuer oder so klein, das man außerhalb des UK nichts bekommt.
Leider steht das Rotweinfass der Leichtigkeit ein wenig entgegen, verstärkt aber die Komplexität.

Aroma: Kräftig, dunkle Früchte, süß und würzig
Geschmack: Voll, kräftiger Antritt, sehr komplex mit dunklen Früchten, trockener werdend, interessante Würzigkeit, pfeffrig, aber ohne jede Bitterkeit
Abgang: Lang, komplex, die Würzaromen nehmen zu, dunkle Schokolade
Kommentar: Sehr interessanter Whisky, im Aroma süß und fruchtig, im Geschmacke und im Agang kommen dann immer mehr Würzaromen dazu. Mit ca. 80 € nicht ganz billig, trotzdem bereue ich den kauf absolut nicht, denn dieser Whisky ist doch etwas anderes als die vielen Mainstream-Sherry-Whiskys.
