This Bladnoch raw spirit is the distillery's first new quality spirit. In 2017, production started again at the distillery after a two-year renovation break. The new New Make Spirit is actually only intended for sale in the Bladnoch visitor centre, and very few bottles were bottled.

Bladnoch was founded in 1817 by the brothers John and Thomas McClelland. The distillery is the most southern active distillery there is in Scotland. It lies right next to the river that is also called Bladnoch.

Kommentar: Ich habe in Aroma und Geschmack sehr viel frisches. Frische grüne Früchte wie Birnen und Äpfel. Im Geschmack kommen Banane und Malz dazu. Über allem viel Süße, vor allem zuckrig. Alkohol ist natürlich immer dabei, aber nicht störend. Ich benutze es hauptsächlich für mein kleines Fäßchen im Keller, dafür wunderbar geeignet.

Kommentar: ich verwende diesen New Make, um ihn in einem neuen Eichenfässchen (1l), in das ich zuvor für drei Monate einen Marsala-Süsswein füllte, reifen zu lassen. Interessante Entwicklung und spannender Vergleich zwischen New Make und ... naja, quasi Whisky :-)

Aroma: In der Nase der (wie ich finde) für New Make typische Birnenduft allerdings mit Zitrusnote

Geschmack: Auch hier Mandarinen, geliert bitter, sehr dick und (aufgrund der hohen Prozente) auch alkoholisch scharf

Kommentar: Puh.. Ja, interessant. Für mich hatte der etwas von einem Obstler mit der Ekligkeit eines Grappas (ja gut... wems schmeckt). Gar nicht mein Fall. Kam bei einem Tasting aber immerhin besser an als der New make von Lindores
