Barra Atlantic Gin comes from the Scottish island of Barra. The island is the largest of the Outer Hebrides. An edible species of red algae, which is found in abundance on Barra, is added to the gin during distillation. The cells of the red algae contain carrageenan, which is the reason for the name Carrageenan Seaweed on the label.

The family-run Isle of Barra Distillery on the island of the same name in north-west Scotland has been producing Barra Atlantic Gin since 2017. A Whisky Distillery is to be built as well, for which planning permission was granted in 2022.

Aroma: Kräutrig, floral mit Wacholder und einer dezent maritimen Note.
Geschmack: Weich mit Zitrus- und Wacholderkomponenten, dazu erneut maritime Facetten.

Kommentar: auch pur brennt hier nichts, sehr angenehm. Mit Tonic Water sehr frisch und maritim. Erinnert mich an den Gin von der Isle of Harris (und ist gleichzeitig etwas preiswerter).
