This Caol Ila belongs to the Cask Strength Collection by Signatory, in which the whiskies are bottled directly at cask strength. They are particularly recommended for advanced connoisseurs. The island malt matured for eleven years, first in refilled hogsheads and then for sixteen months in a fresh sherry butt.

Vielschichtig - einerseits Nussig cremig (Nougat?)- dann aber auch saftige Kirschen u. rote Beeren und Brombeeren, Rosinen. gesalzenes Karamell.
Der Torfrauch ist pur recht zurückhaltend, aber definitiv deutlicher mit Wasser.

Geschmack:

Sehr vielschichtig - irgendwie eine Reise:
Salziger maritimer Beginn (Karamell?). Dann reife Pflaumen und Brombeeren. Etwas Schärfe - aber dann doch kein Ingwer oder Chili( Sorry). Dann kommt dry Amontillado durch und Nüsse.
Insgesamt ein Kommen und gehen von Süße und Salz.
Beeindruckend.

Abgang:

Pur: mittellang.
Mit Wasser: laaaang.

Kommentar:
Das Sherry-Finish hat prima geklappt - der Grundcharakter von Caol Ila ist klar erkennbar und der Sherry-Einfluss harmoniert wunderbar. Ich habe pur und mit etwas Wasser probiert - so ca. auf 47-50% verdünnt.
