The aroma of this Blair Athol is slightly sweet and shows a hint of smoke. Both are also more pronounced in the Taste. In the long finish, the sweetness is only subtly perceptible.
Under the Flora & Fauna Series, the owner Diageo bottles selected casks from a few distilleries, each individually as a Single Malt. The Flora & Fauna series is a true enrichment of the whisky scene and is regarded by collectors as an original bottling if there are no other original bottlings.

Aroma: Tolle Nase, rote Früchte wie Erdbeeren, Johannisbeeren und Pflaumen. Rumtopf mit Rosinen, vanillig süß.
Geschmack: Nicht ganz so schön wie die Nase, etwas wässrig, Sherry, viel Holz und weißer Pfeffer, Pfeifentabak und dunkle Schokolade, weit weniger süß als es die Nase andeutet.
Abgang: Maximal mittellang, viel Eichenholz, der weiße Pfeffer und dunkle Schokolade mit Haselnüsse und Rosinen mit einer Tasse ungesüßtem Espresso.
Kommentar: Ein sehr fair bepreister All-Day Dram. Keine Offenbarung, aber wunderbar zu genießen zum Feierabend. Unter Berücksichtigung des aktuell sehr günstigen Preises von 39,90 € vergebe ich sogar 4,0 Sterne. Lasse ich den reduzierten Preis außer acht, so sind es maximal 3,5 Sterne, da er mit länger gereiften Sherryabfüllungen von 15 Jahren und mehr natürlich nicht mithalten kann, aber da lege ich dann auch meist mindestens 70 € plus hin.
