The Maritime Release series from the Irish distillery West Cork is a special edition comprising four bottlings. The 0.7 litre bottles are reminiscent of floating balls, which were once used as buoyancy for fishing nets. The triple-distilled Irish Single Malts are each given a different finish after initial maturation in bourbon barrels and are then bottled at 46% vol. at drinking strength without chill-filtering or colouring.

As the name suggests, West Cork Distillers is located in the west of County Cork in Ireland. The independent craft distillery was founded in 2003 by three childhood friends: John O'Connell and cousins Ger and Denis McCarthy. What began as a small experiment in a back room developed into one of the largest Irish-owned distilleries in the country. Today, the distillery employs more than 140 people, many of them from the region, and produces Irish Whiskey, Gin and Vodka for a global audience.

Gerganaop 01.01.2026Aroma: the aroma leans toward sweet and mellow, honey, vanilla and caramel sweetness
Geschmack: roasted, malty flavour - coffee, toast and chocolate. Gentle tropical or dried fruit edges from the rum cask finish
Abgang: medium length and softly warming, fruit and sweet vanilla linger, balanced and enjoyable

Kommentar: überhaupt nicht mein Ding. Entweder schlechtes Batch erwischt oder ich check‘s nicht ganz. Üble alkoholische Note, wie billiger Fusel, brennend im Abgang (was ich von Irish gar nicht kenne). Das einzige Highlight war für mich die originelle Flaschenform. Leider???? -
