The Irish Kilbeggan Black contains a small amount of smoky malt that has been dried over a glowing peat fire. This gives the usually mild Irish whiskey a more complex character with more depth. A tribute to the old days of Irish whiskey before the 19th century, when peat was still used to dry the barley.

Founded as late as 1987, for many years Cooley was the only independent Irish distillery of its time. Since 2011 the well-known labels such as Kilbeggan, Tyrconnell, Locke's or Connemara have belonged to Beam (now Beam Suntory).

Kommentar: Er ist sehr süßfruchtig und frisch. Vom Verriechen bis bald nach dem Schlucken hat man eine dezente Rauchnote. Für mich und meiner wenigen Raucherfahrung dürfte es schon etwas mehr sein - gern im Tausch gegen einen Teil der Frucht und der Süße! Das Verhältnis von Preis und Leistung hat mich wirklich angenehm überrascht!
