This Bowmore belongs to the Octave series by Duncan Taylor. In the series, the independent bottler experiments with the influence of cask size on maturation. Octave casks, at around 50 litres, are only a fraction as large as the usual cask types. As a result, the whisky has more contact with the cask surface and matures more intensively.

Kommentar: Bei dem Preis hätte ich mir dann doch mehr erwartet, auch wenn der Tropfen alles in allem ganz ordentlich schmeckt. -
Rolandop 11.06.2025Aroma: Der Destillerie-Charakter zeigt sich sofort in der Nase: Metallische, mineralische Würze auch sommerliche Kräuter sind dabei Thymian, Rosmarin. Dabei süß und einladend. Kein alkoholischer Biss un der Nase.
Geschmack: Am Gaumen allerdings wird man zunächst mit einem alkoholischen Stechen konfrontiert. Danach folgt ein durchaus abgebauter komplexer Rauch - auch hier Bowmore-typisch wieder die mineralische kräuterige Würze.
Abgang: Im langen Abgang verbleibt eine saftige Fruchtigkeit mit einer Zitrus-Bitterkeit wie in Grapefruits. Begleitet wird diese von einer aromatischen Tabak-Note.
Kommentar: Guter unabhängig abgefüllter Bowmore. Dadurch "fehlt" ihm die E150a Klebrigkeit von vielen Originalabfüllungen. Das steht auf der Haben Seite. Dafür muss man die Alkoholschärfe zu bändigen wissen (Wasser hilft! Und Zeit im Glas). Insgesamt ein halber Punkt Abzug für das schlechte Preis Leistung Verhältnis.
Geschmack: Pfeffer, leichte Lakritznote
Abgang: malzig
