About Douglas Laing

Take a liquid tour of the Scotch whisky landscape with Douglas Laing and the Remarkable Regional Malts. Each of the blended malt Scotch whiskies contains only single malts from the respective region to perfectly capture the characteristics of that region. Whether Speyside, Lowlands, Highlands, Islands, Islay or Campbeltown - each region knows how to convince with its very own charm. No colouring, no chill-filtration - just pure taste!

Founded in 1948, the family business Douglas Laing & Co. is now one of Scotland's leading whisky producers. After more than 70 years, the company founded by Fred Douglas Laing is still owned by the Laing family. Now in its third generation, the company's management is shared by Chairman Fred Laing Jr, CEO Chris Leggat and Cara Laing as Head of Whisky. One thing is always in the foreground for the Laing family - the fun and love of whisky.

Remarkable Regional Malts

BIG PEAT has long since reached cult status and is no longer an insider tip even outside connoisseur circles. Unfiltered, without colouring, with naturally strong 46% vol., it fulfils all the virtues of a powerful, smoky Islay malt. Only the best single malts from Islay are combined, among others, malts from Ardbeg, Caol Ila, Bowmore and even Port Ellen can be found in this blended malt.

Elegantly spicy in character and at the same time silky and sherry-toned - for its blended malt SCALLYWAG DOUGLAS LAING chose exclusively Speyside malts: from Mortlach, Macallan and Glenrothes among others. Bottled at 46 % vol., not coloured, not chill-filtered, this small batch bottling has a fascinating character thanks to the maturation in bourbon and Spanish sherry casks.

The idea for this "horror-inducing beast" Timorous Beastie originates from the poem "To a Mouse" by Robert Burns, the famous Scottish poet of pubs and taverns. This Highland mouse is an ode to the Highlands through its wonderful combination of the best and most typical Scottish Highland malt whiskies such as Blair Athol, Glen Garioch, The Dalmore and Glengoyne.

Douglas Laing’s „THE EPICUREAN“ combines the best the east and west coasts of Scotland have to offer. An impressive powerhouse of intense flavours of malted barley, citrus and herbs, wonderfully complemented by a wealth of floral notes. Elaborate illustrations of cocktail paraphernalia and crystal decanters adorn the bottle and gift box, evoking the lively party life of Glasgow in the 1930s.

ROCK ISLAND was created as a tribute to the sea using the finest maritime malt whiskies. These include the islands of Jura, Islay, Arran and the Orkney Islands, which are highly regarded in terms of whisky. ROCK ISLAND stands for the rough coast of Scotland and for the pure enjoyment of the salty, maritime flair of the stormy North Atlantic sea.

The Gauldrons is inspired by the dark sandy bays of the same name on the west coast of the Campbeltown region and literally means "bay of storms". The whisky is a wonderful combination of light maritime notes and a pleasant sweetness.
