Product description
The William Hinton Single Whisky Cask Finish Rum combines new with old, refined in a single whisky cask. For this bottling, a four-year-old rum, made from pure sugar cane juice and distilled in a centuries-old still, was blended with one of the very last rums produced at the distillery before it closed in 1985. Together they were then finished for two years in a former whisky cask.
Founded in 1845 by William Hinton, the distillery in Portugal became a leader in sugar cane harvesting in Madeira. State-of-the-art sugar cane mills, also called 'Engenho', helped to process 600 tonnes of sugar cane per day. After the distillery closed in 1985, it was reopened in 2006 by William Hinton's heirs with the aim of restoring the original distillery with the help of an alembic still and producing a variety of rums.
