For the designation XO (extra old), a rhum must have been matured for at least six years according to AOC (Appellation d'Origine Controlee) guidelines. This bottling matures for at least nine years in ex-bourbon barrels before being bottled at 43 % vol. The Dillon Rhum was named after the famous General Count Arthur Dillon. Distilled in the Depaz Distillery, the rhum is then matured in the so-called Dillon estate.

The Distillery: Dillon
General Arthur Dillon, who arrived in Martinique with his regiment in 1779, gave his name to the distillery. The colours for the Maison Dillon logo were borrowed from the uniform of his regiment, which wore red and gold.

Geschmack: Vanille und Zimt treffen auf deutliche Holznoten und verbinden sich zu einem weichen und runden Geschmack.
Geschmack: Hier schlagen Eiche und Zimt voll durch. Ziemlich scharf, schon fast unangenehm scharf. Keine Süße, aber dafür viel Vanille
Abgang: Recht kurz, die Zimtschärfe bleibt haften.
Kommentar: Wer von dem Zuckerwasser A´la Zacapa & Co kommt wird erschrecken. Nichts für Easy- Drinking.
P.s. Dieser Rhum braucht Luft, so furchtbar die ersten 2 Gläser waren, so viel besser ist er 2 Wochen später geworden. Die UHU- Note ist verschwunden und die Schärfe hat stark abgenommen. Jetzt ein durchaus leckerer Rhum Agricole, der sich wohltuend von den vielen stark gezuckerten Mainstream- Rums abhebt
