The 12-year-old Caol Ila belongs to the so-called 'Classic Malts of Scotland'. This malt shimmers pure and white-golden. Tingly fresh salt aromas from the sea merge with the peaty smokiness of the island. Unmistakably an Islay malt despite its initial sweetness. Pleasant bite!

Kommentar:Der 12-jährige ist ein Klassiker unter den Islaymalts und das zu einem vernünftigen Preis. Einer für die Freunde rauchiger Whiskys. Rund, intensiv und komplex. Wie ich finde, keiner für Einsteiger aber wenn man auf den Geschmack gekommen ist sollte man den 12er ins Sortiment aufnehmen. Der kommt bei meinen Freunden immer gut an. Kaufempfehlung!

Comment: Light amber with slightly orange reflections due to the caramel colouring, the nose has the smoke of a joyful beach bonfire, with citrus notes of burnt orange and lemon zest, and oak spices (vanilla).
It is salty, briny and slightly medicinal (iodine).
The neck pour is fantastic, it's an explosion of flavours; it is a mix of delicious and complex sensations of peat and ash smoke well balanced with citrus (lemon), oak spices and malty sweetness. Then flavours of charred meat, liquorice, maritime and peppery notes, and aromatic herbs.
Rich body compared to alcohol strength.
The finish is medium-long: dry, smoky, mineral, with warming oak.
