Bunnahabhain Staoisha is named after the lake near the distillery whose water is used to cool the distillery's Pot Stills. Non-chill-filtered whiskies are usually bottled at 46%. At a higher alcohol content, the oils and fats remain dissolved in the whisky. Below 46%, the result is a very cloudy malt. Signatory Vintage deliberately plays with this effect in the 'Very Cloudy' series. This is a strongly smoky bottling. The 8-year-old Single Malt Whisky was matured in Dechar/Rechar hogsheads.

Bunnahabhain means 'river mouth' translated from Gaelic. The distillery is the northernmost on the island of Islay and is located about three kilometres from Port Askaig. It was built by the Greenless Brothers in 1881.

Kommentar: Schöner junger Bunna, könnte für meinen Geschmack aber etwas kräftiger sein und etwas rauchiger. Außerdem fehlen dem auch noch ein paar Umdrehungen, das macht leider mehr aus, als ich gedacht hätte.

Ich war ein wenig skeptisch wegen der kurzen 7 Jahre Reifung. Der Whisky ist aber sehr schnell zu einem meiner Lieblinge aufgestiegen. Der rauchige Note trifft von der Intensität her genau meinen Geschmack. Würde ich jederzeit wieder kaufen.
