Magnus III Barelegs was a Viking king of Norway who ruled the Scottish islands in the late 11th century. He owed his nickname (bare legs) to the fact that he adopted the Scottish tradition and wore kilt. His successors were the Celtic Lords of the Isles, who ruled the island of Islay from Finlaggan. The Barelegs Single Malt Whisky comes from one of the most famous Islay distilleries, although the name remains a mystery. It is bottled without chill filtering by the Islay Boys Ltd, two Islay-based whisky lovers.

In der Nase nasser, kalter Rauch, Alkohol , Getreide….. im Mund schiebt der Alkohol durch den Rauch. Definitiv ein junger Islay. Würde auf maximal 4-5 Jahre tippen. Abgang Mittelgang bis lang. Rauch verbleibt lang im Mund. Kurz, im Blind-tasting hätte ich getippt ich habe einen Octomore im Glas. Wenn man DAS möchte und mag, und einem klar ist dass man einen jungen Islay im Glas hat kriegt man was man möchte. Vom PLV durchaus gerechtfertigt und wie gesagt, wenn man auf kräftig Asche im Mund steht bekommt man einen guten Trink-Whisky. Werde mir noch eine Flasche als Reserve ordern.

Kommentar: Natürlich Rauchigkeit wikingerhafter Derbheit als Selling Point - aber weder teerig, noch Schinkenbrot. Fast 56 Umdrehungen und doch kein Backpfeifen-Tropfen. Interessanter, mit aufflackerndem Malz würziger Islay, der wirklich Freude macht.
