Arran Machrie Moor is dedicated to the beautiful moorland on the west coast of the Isle of Arran, criss-crossed by mighty rock formations and bearing the same name. This uncharacteristically smoky whisky is dedicated to this special piece of land on the Isle of Arran. This Single Malt is fully matured for 10 years in first-fill bourbon casks and bottled at 46% with no chill filtration or added colouring. A warm, golden coloured whisky with a peat content of 20 ppm.

The Distillery:
The Lochranza distillery is located on the Isle of Arran, after which it was initially named. In 2019, Lagg, the second distillery on the island, opened. As a result, Arran renamed itself Lochranza to better distinguish it. However, the Single Malt Whisky is still available under the Arran brand.

Ich habe hohe Erwartungen gehabt, man hört viel gutes
In der Nase geht er ziemlich heftig los vom Alkohol, andere 46iger treten da deutlich leiser. Man hat vor allem diese schöne Süße und den Rauch, etwas Zitrusfrüchte und gefühlt einen Hauch Vanille und Eiche. Der Sherry könnt euch leicht durch, Trockenfrüchte und Rosinen.
Im Geschmack ist dann eher wenig los, alkoholische Schäfer am Anfang. Eigentlich untypisch für den Sweet Spot mit 46%, war aber auch der erste Whisky heute. Dann kommt die zuckrige Süße, fast schon in Richtung Puderzucker. Gewürze vom Sherry mit Trockenfrüchte, etwas Eiche und Zitrusfrüchte. Aber eher flach, dominant finde ich die Schärfe und Süße. Der Rauch breitet sich erst langsam aus und ich finde ihn eher zurückhaltend.
Im Abgang dann eher kurz, es bleibt etwas Eiche, Trockenfrüchte und Gewürze mit dem Rauch kombiniert.
