Product description

The smoky Ballechin was named after a now closed farmhouse distillery and comes from Edradour's Straight from the Cask (SFTC) series. For this Single Malt, Andrew Symington experimented with different cask types. This cask-strength Highlander matured for 11 years in an oloroso sherry cask and was bottled at 59.6% vol.

The Distillery: Edradour

Near the Edradour distillery lie the ruins of the Lindores Ruins. This is the birthplace of Aquavite (water of life) that later became the Whisky we know. Edradour is one of the smallest distilleries in Scotland. read more

Aroma: eleganter Rauch mit Nuss und Schoko

Geschmack: sehr angenehm nach leicht angebranntem Schoko-Nuss-Kuchen mit ein paar dunklen Früchten, null Alkoholstechen

Abgang: laaang und angenehm rauchig mit Oloroso-Sherry

Kommentar: tolles Teil, rund und angenehm, nix ist aufdringlich, preislich "anspruchssvoll"

Kommentar: In der Nase und am Gaumen zunächst Rauch, eher medizinisch und phenolig, man fühlt sich an Islays Südküste versetzt. Dann kommt das Fass durch, leichte Sherrynoten, Schokolade, Eiche. Abgang rauchig-süß, etwas brennig-alkoholischer als Anfangs am Gaumen, zuweilen sogar sprittig. Den würde ich blind nie mit Highlands geschweige denn Edradour in Verbindung setzen. Sehr interessant, jedoch für meinen Geschmack etwas zu sprittig.
