This 45-year-old single malt is one of the oldest available from Talisker. Twelve heavily burnt American oak casks were temporarily stored in the ice of Canadian glaciers for 96 hours, causing the surface of the casks to warp so much in the freezing temperatures that small cracks appeared, exposing the whisky even more to the cold environment. This exceptional finish allowed the former bourbon casks to release their sweet and spicy components to the whisky maturing in them in an ideal way. In 2020, the collaboration with the environmental protection organisation Parley of the Oceans was launched to realise the ambitious goal of protecting and restoring 100 million square metres of natural marine space. This rarity is also being launched on the market in collaboration with the organisation.

Aroma: Reichhaltig, trocken und mild mit der für Talisker typischen Pfeffernote. Dazu maritime Anklänge von Algen und Jod, Salzkristallen und der Süße von Trockenfrüchten. Zum Ende hin cremige Vanillenoten und rauchige Akzente von Sandelholz.
Geschmack: Zunächst samtig und weich mit Facetten von Sahnebonbons, dann intensiver und mit intensiven Noten von Salz, Pfeffer und etwas Chili. Gegen Ende Komponenten von Sahnekaramellbonbons mit erfrischenden Untertönen.
Abgang: Lananhaltend mit einer ausbalancierten Mischung aus Chili, Salz und Pfeffer mit einem leichten Raucharoma.
