Mortlach Very Cloudy was bottled by the independent bottler Signatory Vintage. Non-chill-filtered whiskies are usually bottled at 46% vol. With a higher alcohol content, the oils and fats remain dissolved in the whisky. Below 46%, the result is a very cloudy malt. Signatory deliberately plays with this effect in the 'Very Cloudy' series. Due to the dilution to 40%, the Mortlach shows quite different flavours when tasted. This Mortlach Single Malt Whisky was distilled in differently shaped Pot Stills and matured for 9 years in three Bourbon Hogsheads.

The Mortlach distillery was the first of Dufftown’s famous seven distilleries. The distillery was also the first legal distillery in the town, which is quite a distinction, especially when we consider the impressive amount of illicit activity that was occurring around the site at that time.

Geschmack: Apfelkuchen mit Sahne. Süß-sauer.
Abgang: Sehr lecker, mittellang. 43% wären vielleicht cooler, aber passt dann nicht ganz zum Konzept dieser Serie.
Kommentar: Fast schon ein bisschen was von einem gedeckten Calvados. Ohne jedoch die Eichen-Fasskeule. Interessanter Malt.
