The Legent was created in collaboration between Fred Noe, Master Distiller at Jim Beam and Shinji Fukuyo, Chief Blender at Suntory. The Kentucky Straight Bourbon matures for around eight years in freshly charred white oak barrels in Kentucky and is then partly matured in red wine, sherry and ex-yamazaki barrels. The special edition is a Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey produced by Fred Noe in Kentucky from American grain. The whisky then travelled across the Pacific Ocean to Japan, where it was matured and recombined at the Suntory Yamazaki distillery, the birthplace of Japanese whisky, on the outskirts of Kyoto. Maturation took place in carefully selected French oak wine casks, Spanish oak sherry casks and sherry casks previously used for Yamazaki single malt Japanese whisky.

Kommentar: Jim Beam macht ja Sachen! Ab und an hauen die leckere Sachen raus wo ich bei mir denke "warum ist der White Label so schlimm?" Der Legent Y. ist schon ein schickes Teil. Tolle Flasche, nette Geschichte drumherum. Das Aroma ist Facettenreich und bietet lange Zeit abwechslungsreiches "beschnuppern". Der Geschmack ist a)typisch Jim Beam, und b) ist das ganze Finishgedöns und blenden bemerkbar. Aber liebe Leute! Muss denn das ganze echt 2x um den Globus schippern? Und dann muss es ja auch zum Endverbraucher. Mit ein wenig mehr Phantasie ginge das doch bestimmt günstiger und Umwelttechnisch gesehen nachhaltiger. Fazit: schöner Whiskey abstoßender Preis und wieder die Zwickmühle...wer braucht sowas? Für 100 - 120 Euro wäre das ok. 4,5 Sterne für den Whiskey 0 für den Preis
