Flor de Caña Rum comes from Nicaragua and is the only rum brand in the world that is authorised to call itself 'slow aged'. With this certification, the US government authority ensures that the maturation process is natural and not accelerated in oak barrels. The rum is produced directly at the San Antonio sugar factory at the foot of an active volcano, which belongs to the "Compañía Licorera de Nicaragua" founded in 1890. Although the Flor de Caña 7 Gran Reserva is the youngest in the Central American production facility's range, it has been regularly winning prizes at trade fairs and competitions since 2001. It was matured in small 180-litre white oak barrels and developed a full flavour with complex aromas. For even more enjoyment, the rum is available in a 1 litre bottle.

The Italian Alfredo Francisco Pellas Canessa founded the Flor de Caña Rum distillery in 1890 at the foot of the San Cristobál volcano in Nicaragua. The distillery is still family-owned and is now run by the fifth generation.
