The Spice Tree from Compass Box uses a specially crafted barrel blend. With French oak lids and American oak barrels, the barrels for Spice Tree were burnt out more. The whisky was also matured longer for bottling than is usual for this producer. The malts used all come from the Highlands. The independent bottler Compass Box confidently calls itself a 'whisky maker' and sees itself more as a whisky artist than a producer. The team around John Glaser always tries to break new ground when it comes to maturation and blending. The production process is passed on to the customer as transparently as possible.
