This Caol Ila was released by the independent bottler Signatory Vintage. Andrew Symington founded his company at the end of the 80s and has always maintained good contact with the distilleries. Today, he can call a warehouse of over 10,000 casks his own.
Whiskies that are not chill-filtered are usually bottled at 46%. With a higher alcohol content, the oils and fats remain dissolved in the whisky. Below 46%, the result is a very cloudy malt. Signatory Vintage deliberately plays with this effect at 40% in the 'Very Cloudy' series. This Single Malt was matured for 8 years in three different Bourbon hogsheads.
