The 14-year-old Balvenie American Bourbon Barrel is one of two bottlings in the new Curious Cask Collection series, which is the result of the curiosity and close collaboration between Malt Master Kelsey McKechnie and Samples Coordinator George Paterson. Both bottlings from this project are the successors to the successful Revelation of Cask and Character series. Unpeated malt was milled, mashed, fermented and distilled. The raw spirit was given gently smoky notes, as distillation for the Week of Peat series had taken place shortly beforehand. The Balvenie was then matured for 14 years in ex-bourbon casks, creating unique aromas and flavours.

The Scottish Malt Whisky distillery The Balvenie is located on the slopes of the Convals, below the Glenfiddich distillery. It was built in 1892 by William J. Grant, who is also the founder of the sister distillery Glenfiddich.

Kommentar: Intensiv, leicht dunkles Timbre mit holzigen Noten. Eine dezente Rauchigkeit, nicht vergleichbar mit den "Week of Peat"-Versionen, hintergründig und überraschend. 47,8% ABV passend, sorgt für starken Antritt. Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis vor dem Hintergrund Single Barrel, nicht kühlgefiltert, nicht gefärbt und Balvenie in Ordnung.
