The Mantuano Rum has been part of Botucal's core range - also known internationally as "Ron Diplomático" - since the end of 2016, beginning of 2017 and replaces the Reserva Rum. The many facets of Botucal Mantuano Rum are modelled on the popular flagship Botucal Reserva Exclusiva. Recognisable notes of dried fruit, sweet vanilla and hints of spice can be attributed to the eight years of ageing, but the distillation in batch kettle, column still and Pot Still are also responsible for the balanced interplay of sweetness and spice. 'Mantuano' translates as 'noble man of honour'. Like all of the distillery's rums, this bottling is made from a blend of sugar cane honey and molasses.

Mehrfach und mit Freunden verkostet über eine Zeit von 8 Wochen:
Am Anfang schnell präsent, sehr rund und süffig-schmackhaft, Vanille, Pflaume und Rosine, Trockenfrucht, etwas Eiche, diskrete Würze, später Zartbitter-Schoko. Second-ff sip sehr lecker. Nachfolgend dito.
Nach 5 Wochen schwächer geworden, deutlich weniger Aromenvielfalt als Abuelo 12yo two oaks
Zum Schluss: Dominante Eiche, sehr pfeffrig-würzig, ein wenig bitter, wenig Aromenspiel, im 2nd sip öffnet er sich etwas, aber bei weitem nicht mehr so schmackhaft und vielfältig wie am Anfang. Eher kurzer und etwas sprittiger Abgang.
Im Querschnitt 3 Rum-Sterne, PLV oK
