Blending is highly valued these days. The many possibilities for innovation and flavour development give the balanced creations of Alasdair and Gordon Stevenson that certain something. The Turntable Smokin' Riff is aimed at all friends of peat smoke with sweetish accents. The composition was largely created from Single Malt from the Islay great Caol Ila. Whiskies from Virgin Oak Barrels and Pedro Ximénez Puncheons from North British, Craigellachie and Knockdhu provide balance. It comes neither coloured nor chill-filtered in the modern bottles. The bottling belongs to the recently released standard range of the Stevenson brothers, who are the founders behind the Turntable Blending House.

Aroma: PX-Aromen deutlich wahrnehmbar. Leichter Rauch (8 bis 12 PPM maximal) mit vielen Früchten (z. B. Datteln, Birnen oder Feige). Alles zusammen süß, rauchig und fruchtig.
Geschmack: Weich, fruchtig und süßlich: Rauchige Schokolade mit Rosinen und Birne.
Abgang: Mittel. Rauch, Toffee und weißer Pfeffer bringen es zu Ende!
Kommentar: Hochwertiger Blend von Blending House! Die ganze Trilogie hat mich bisher sehr gut überzeugt! Hier meine persönliche Bestenliste: 3 Platz "Paradise Funk"

Aroma: Ein sanfter Rauch überfordert die Nase nicht, und lässt auch den vielfältigen Fruchtaromen Platz, die hier auftauchen, zuerst Erdbeere, dann zu Trockenfrüchten übergehend, schlussendlich dann aber auch noch Äpfel und Birnen.
Geschmack: Im Antritt zuerst der Rauch, aber nicht zu intensiv, dann eine ganz, ganz süße Himbeere, die dann von einer intensiven Pfeffernote abgelöst wird.
Abgang: Im Abgang bleibt die Pfeffernote eine halbe Ewigkeit hängen.
Kommentar: Ganz schön komponierter, komplexer Whisky.
Geschmack: Im Antritt zuerst der Rauch, aber nicht zu intensiv, dann eine ganz, ganz süße Himbeere, die dann von einer intensiven Pfeffernote abgelöst wird.

Kommentar: Ein harmonischer, gut ausbalancierter, weicher und komplexer Blended Malt zu einem guten PLV. Die Angaben zu den verwendeten Fässern und deren Anteile sind ebenfalls lobenswert.
