Product description
The 15-year-old Tullibardine is one of the few whiskies from the Highlands distillery with an age statement. To date, only the 20-year-old and the 25-year-old from the Fine Aged Collection are available. With the 15-year-old, the distillery has now released the first standard bottling with an age statement. It is the first whisky with an age statement after the reopening of the Highlands distillery.

Tullibardine is actually not the oldest Scottish Distillery but regarding the first step of the Whisky production it is one of the Methuselahs of the business: The visit of King James 4th of Scotland of the local brewery situated here before is known as the first recorded purchase of Beer. That was in 1488, long before in 1949 the first spirit was distilled here at Tullibardine in Perthshire. read more

Aroma: Frisch abgenommenes, teils noch grünes Obst. Nicht zu süß, eher ins „Trockene“ gehend. Auch die Erdbeeren, die ich nun vermehrt empfinde, haben definitiv nicht zu viel Sonne gesehen. Ein Wechselspiel von Frucht und Getreide. Harmonisch und nicht kompliziert. Irgendwie erinnert mich gegen Schluss noch etwas an einen Hustensaft. (22)
Geschmack: Nehme den Hustensaft mit in den Gaumen, wobei jedoch sehr schnell eine Art Fruchtkompott mit ins Spiel kommt. Dann werden Cerealien aktiv und immer mehr Eichenwürze, und als Krönchen leitet ein süffiger Honig in den Abgang über. (22)
Abgang: Honigwabe mit angenehmer Würzigkeit. Nun zum Ausklang eindeutig wieder die Erdbeere und etwas leicht Tropisches. Schade, dass es nicht lange andauert. Hätte gerne etwas nachgekaut. (20)
Kommentar: Für den ersten 15 YO-Whisky nach Wiedereröffnung der Destillerie recht ordentlich gelungen. Durchaus süffig und ganz und gar nicht langweilig. Man darf gespannt sein, was vom ersten 18er aufgeboten wird. Der französische Einfluss bei der Ausrichtung des Brennvorgangs zeigt Wirkung – ich freue mich auf weitere gelungene Abfüllungen. (21)
