With the new Starward X Lagavulin Cask, the experimental distillery from Melbourne in Australia has succeeded in creating an exciting limited bottling. Every Starward whisky is made from local ingredients and is first matured in an Australian red wine cask. The Starward X Lagavulin Cask Single Malt is then given an 18-month finish in Lagavulin casks from the Scottish island of Islay. Lagavulin whisky is known for its smoky flavour and is one of the most popular Islay single malts. The design presents it in a high-quality box in a vibrant Lagavulin green colour.

The Distillery: New World Distillery
The Australian Starward distillery, based in Melbourne, has been producing Whisky since 2015. The founder, David Vitale, has Italian ancestors, but was raised in Melbourne. He cares a lot about his roots, which is why Starward Whisky matures exclusively in red wine casks.

Geschmack: geröstete , Himbeeren , viel aschiger , 48% super eingebunden
Abgang: viel aschiger Rauch, Wechselspiel zwischen Frucht und Rauch
Kommentar: sehr interessanter und leckerer Whisky, tolle Verpackung, 48% nahezu perfekt, Preis ca. 40€ zu teuer (0,25 Punkte Abzug) - gesamt deshalb 4,25 Punkte
