With 'The Kasc Project', Kinahan's ventures into new territory in whiskey maturation. Specially made, so-called 'hybrid barrels' were used for the storage. The staves of the barrels are cut from the five different types of wood: Portuguese, American, French and Hungarian oak, as well as chestnut. For this evolution of the Kasc Project bottlings, the whiskey was first matured in first fill ex-Bourbon American Oak casks before being aged in the hybrid casks for an even smoother result.
This whiskey is the perfect entry-level quality and is also very suitable for mixing.

Aroma: Sehr intensiv, aber nicht sehr komplex.
Geschmack: Auch hier intensiv und würzig. Eine für mich nicht identifizierbare Note könnte auf das enthaltene Kastanienfass deuten.
Abgang: Pfeffrig und langanhaltend.
Kommentar: Gewagt mit der Kombination aus verschiedenen Holzarten in einem Fass. Finde ich gut. Allerdings würde der Whiskey noch etwas Reifung vertragen. Für das Außergewöhnliche einen halben Stern mehr.

Geschmack: Leicht und fruchtig: Vanille und Karmell mit Zimt und Gelee.
Abgang: Kurz. Zum Schluss gesellen sich Mokka oder dunkle Schokolade mit einem Hauch Zimt dazu.
Kommentar: Irische Whiskies haben bei mir einen schlechten Stand! Weil vieles was es auf dem Markt gibt, egal ob preislich höher oder niedriger, einfach nur Murks ist. Dieser hier könnte mit etwas mehr Volumen noch ansprechender sein! Trotzdem deutlich besser als Jameson, Grace O`Malley, Bushmills, etc.
