This 12-year-old Fettercairn belongs to the new range of the award-winning distillery based in the picturesque Fettercairn Valley. A special feature was also transferred to the bottle design: the ring on the bottle neck and the grooves in the bottle shoulder reflect the exceptionality of the distillery. Today, the company still bears the unmistakable logo with the white unicorn.

Aroma: Eindeutig leichtes Karamell mit Äpfeln, Birnen, Vanille und einer leichten zarten Eiche.
Geschmack: Fruchtig und weich: Viele Früchte (vor allem Exoten wie Banane, Drachenfrucht, usw.), Vanille und Traubenzucker.
Abgang: Mittel. Leichte Trockenheit am Ende. Erinnert an Schokolade, gezuckerten Ingwer und einem Hauch Kaffee.
Kommentar: Guter Einstiegsmalt von Fettercairn, der auf der etwas würzigeren Seite der Highlands zu Hause ist! Anfängern würde ich eher zu Aberfeldy oder Glenmorangie raten. Für Fortgeschrittene dan eher Diesen hier!

Kommentar: Ein sehr ausgewogener Malt. In der Nase wartet er zunächst mit einer Kombination aus Vanille und Birne auf, die sich mit der Zeit zu einem Aroma nach Kirschkompott entwickelt. Der zunächst süße Eindruck setzt sich auch auf der Zunge fort, eher er in eine malzig-würzige Richtung einschlägt und schließlich in einen floral-kräutigen Geschmack mündet. Diese herben Einflüsse aus den Kräutern setzen sich auch im Abgang durch und bilden eine schöne herbe Symbiose mit den Aromen aus dem Eichenfass. Besonders hervorheben möchte ich hier aber auch noch das besondere Trinkerlebnis. Denn der Fettercairn hat einen sehr dominant-würzigen Geschmack, der locker mit einem 46%er mithalten kann. Die tatsächlich aber nur abgefüllten 40% machen ihn daneben aber so angenehm trinkbar und leicht auf der Zunge, dass ich im ersten Moment wirklich überrascht
