The Bunnahabhain Canasta Sherry Feis Ile 2023 takes its name from the casks used for maturation and the Feis Ile Festival, which takes place annually on the Isle of Isay. The festival bottling, like almost every Bunnahabhain, is created exclusively from lightly peated and malted barley and pure spring water from the Margadale spring. The Single Malt Whisky was matured in rare Canasta Sherry casks, which were once used to blend sherries made from Palomino and Pedro Ximenez grapes. Canasta casks have a classic style, with the balance of the oloroso sherry imparting spicy flavours and the Pedro Ximenez portion providing complexity and sweetness.

Bunnahabhain means 'river mouth' translated from Gaelic. The distillery is the northernmost on the island of Islay and is located about three kilometres from Port Askaig. It was built by the Greenless Brothers in 1881.
