Aroma Dry nutty sherry notes with accents of cherry, milk chocolate and rum sultana followed by citrus, baked oats and plum.
Taste Rich sherry notes with vanilla, brown sugar, red apple and hints of dried fruit.
Finish Long and warming with dried apricot and fruity accents of dates, soft spices and apple compote.

Tamdhu is owned by independent bottler Ian Macleod. This 18-year-old Single Malt matured entirely in Spanish oloroso sherry casks, which is reflected in the Taste and its strong colour. The elegant glass bottle is reminiscent of the Victorian era.

Situated at Knockando in the center of the Speyside the Tamdhu Distillery managed to survive difficult years of economical ups and downs. This is due to the status of Tamdhu Whisky as a reliable component in the Blends of the Highland Distillers for years. It always was “The Can-Dhu-Spirit”. Since 2011 the distillery belongs to Ian Macleod Distillers who meanwhile started a revival of the brand and relaunched the Single Malt Tamdhu successfully. read more

Kommentar: In der Nase wahnsinnig viel Sherry, aber trotzdem eher leicht mit Früchten und Datteln. Im Geschmack recht süß in Richtung Schokolade, dann etwas später auch Sherry und getrocknete Früchte. Im Abgang werden die Noten das etwas heber mit ein klein wenig Würze. Für meinen Geschmack könnte er noch ein ticken kräftiger sein, die Eiche ist nur leicht vertreten. Alles in allem ein großartiger Whisky.

Kommentar: Auf den 18er Tamdhu hab ich mich schon sehr gefreut. Und das auch zurecht.
Ein super Toller Sherry-Whisky. In der Nase hat man gleich die typischen Sherry-Aromen mit getrockneten Früchten, Nüssen und Süße.
Im Geschmack volle Sherry-Noten, würzig, süß und auch wieder getrocknete Früchte.
Der Abgang ist lang und wärmend, fruchtig und süß mit einer schönen Eichenwürze.
Hier kann man nichts aussetzen. 5*
