The Mantuano Rum has been part of Botucal's core range since the end of 2016, beginning of 2017 - internationally also known as "Ron Diplomático" - and replaces the Reserva Rum. The Botucal Mantuano Rum is based on the popular flagship Botucal Reserva Exclusiva with many facets. Tasteful notes of dried fruits, sweet vanilla and hints of spices are due, among other things, to the eight years of ageing, but the distillation in Batch Kettle, Column Still and Pot Still are also responsible for the balanced interplay of sweetness and spice. Translated, 'Mantuano' means something like noble man of honour. Like all the distillery's rums, this bottling is made from a mix of sugar cane honey and molasses.

Mehrfach und mit Freunden verkostet über eine Zeit von 8 Wochen:
Am Anfang schnell präsent, sehr rund und süffig-schmackhaft, Vanille, Pflaume und Rosine, Trockenfrucht, etwas Eiche, diskrete Würze, später Zartbitter-Schoko. Second-ff sip sehr lecker. Nachfolgend dito.
Nach 5 Wochen schwächer geworden, deutlich weniger Aromenvielfalt als Abuelo 12yo two oaks
Zum Schluss: Dominante Eiche, sehr pfeffrig-würzig, ein wenig bitter, wenig Aromenspiel, im 2nd sip öffnet er sich etwas, aber bei weitem nicht mehr so schmackhaft und vielfältig wie am Anfang. Eher kurzer und etwas sprittiger Abgang.
Im Querschnitt 3 Rum-Sterne, PLV oK

nicht ganz so süß wie der Reserva Exklusiv, kann man super mit mixen aber auch pur genießen, mein Botucal Favorit bleibt aber der Family Reserve
