The Distillery:

The Lochranza distillery is located on the Isle of Arran, after which it was initially named. In 2019, Lagg, the second distillery on the island, opened. As a result, Arran renamed itself Lochranza to better distinguish it. However, the Single Malt Whisky is still available under the Arran brand. read more

Aroma: Süß, mittlerer Sherry mit Eiche und Pfeffer

Geschmack: süß,jüngere Trauben ohne Datteln mit Holzschokolade

Abgang: anhaltend,kräftig, weniger Harmonisch und komplex

Kommentar: leider bin ich persönlich von diesem neuen Arran 18 etwas enttäuscht. Farblich zuerkennen ist dieser bedeutend heller, Geschmacklich ist dieser auch nicht wieder zu erkennen.
Die ältere charge mit den neuen Flaschen hatte mehr, viel mehr Charakter tiefe und Nuancen…wie Sirup Datteln, alte Früchte,Zimt, Holz…ein Mundgefühl das seiners gleichen sucht, mit einer der besten 18 jährigen meiner Meinung nach.
Diese jetzige Abfüllung hat sehr gelitten, aber laut Arran soll diese neue den Charakter der Distillery wieder spiegeln und der Linie Treu bleiben….also back to the roots…kann man verstehen….aber die Ausnahme war einfach nur

Kommentar: Eine gelungene Balance zwischen Sherry und Holzaromen. Der rasante Preisanstieg in den letzten Jahren ist sehr ärgerlich, aber bei einer 18jährigen Vollreifung in Sherryfässeren wohl nicht zu ändern.

Kommentar: Ich habe (für meinen Geschmack) schon bessere 18-jährige Malts (z.B. von Glenmorangie) im Glas gehabt. Für über 100,-€ würde ich ihn mir nicht kaufen.
