The Tenné was first matured for at least eight years in Bourbon barrels before it received a 6-month finish in port wine casks.
The Speyside distillery now calls its malts by the shortened form Spey to avoid confusion with other malts from the Speyside region.

Having only been founded in 1976, Speyside is one of the newest distilleries in Scotland. However, it took more than two decades from the founding of the distillery for construction on the site to be finished. The origins of the distillery date back to 1956, when George Christie, the distillery's founder, bought the piece of land on which he intended to build the distillery on. read more
