Product description
Pokeno Discovery uses spring water from the volcanic hills surrounding the distillery in New Zealand. The barley comes from family-run farms located in the fertile south of the island. Discovery belongs to the distillery's Corerange, which places a lot of emphasis on the New Zealand terroir for its bottlings. The chill-filtered and uncoloured Single Malt is a blend of distillates matured in first-fill bourbon casks and oloroso and PX sherry casks, which come together for final maturation in barrels.

Kommentar: ich war neugierig auf diesen Exoten und bin überrascht wie intensiv nach Kirsche (!) er schmeckt für mich, sehr weich und rund, jung aber lecker, hat sich gelohnt

Kommentar: Ich war selbst dort. Tolle Menschen! Der Whisky ist verdammt interessant. Pokeno hat den einzigen Cooper Neuseelands. Aus Schottland importiert ist neben dem Cooper aber auch Gründer Matt. Und dieser hat seiner Frau Celine versprochen einen sehr sanften Whisky zu brennen. Das Ergebnis von Origin zu Revealation und Discovery ist ein immer süßer werdender Whisky. Vielleicht sogar ein "Frauen-Whisky?!". Jedenfalls, sorgen die lokalen Zutaten und die Wasserquelle auf welcher Pokeno zusammen mit Pure-NZ sitzt für Vulkanfiltriertes süßes Wasser. Dieser Whisky ist für 4-5 Jahre äußerst überraschend reif und steht 10-12 Jährigen in nichts nach. Jung ist er nicht. Eine angenehme kühle Süße mit Noten von Tee und Pfirsich kennt man zb von Schokoladenkonfekt. Doch leider muss ich sagen, ist die Kirsche für mich nicht bemerkbar.
