In the Icons of Wales series, important people or events of the region are honoured. The eighth bottling is patriotic and stands for the Welsh word 'Hiraeth', which means longing for one's homeland and origins. The bottle design is based on the original bottles from the 19th century.

The Distillery: Penderyn
Whisky from Penderyn Distillery is unique in many respects. Located in Brecon Beacon National Park, Penderyn is the only Whisky distillery in Wales. Furthermore, it uses a very special distillation method in a still called Faraday Still, which has been custom-made for Penderyn. In addition to the 'original' distillery, another Penderyn distillery opened on the northern coast of Wales at Lloyd Street in Llandudno in 2021.

Aroma: ein Hauch von Frucht und Süße, winzig wenig Holz, dann trotz nur 46% dominant medizinischer Alkohol
Geschmack: Ein Hauch Pfirsich, Birne, dann wird´s medizinisch, alkoholisch
Abgang: ein Hauch Holz und ein Hauch Süße, leider ohne Volumen. Ein Hauch von Rauch...
Kommentar: Nach einigen Versuchen mich rein zu schmecken habe ich aufgegeben. Die Ansätze sind da. Schade, ein Hauch Furcht und Süße ist riechbar, aber der Alkohol überdeckt alles. 46%? Leider ist da auch nicht mehr viel mit verdünnen, der Alkohol bleibt geschmacklich im Vordergrund und das bisschen Geruch/ Geschmack schwindet noch mehr. Weg damit, das Leben ist zu kurz...

Aroma: Starke Bourbonfass Einflüsse! Vanille und Karamell schwingen einem entgegen. Gepaart mit Früchten, wie Äpfel und Birnen.
Geschmack: Auch hier wieder viel Vanille und Frucht. Von Rauch kaum eine Spur. Eine leichte Zitrus Frische im Hintergrund.
Abgang: Leichte Eiche und eine Spur süße. Mittellang und kaum Rauch.
Kommentar: Insgesamt ein guter Whisky aber nicht besonders komplex.

Aroma: Floral mit leichten Eichennoten sowie süß und fruchtig mit Vanille, Rosinen, Toffee, Äpfeln und Zitrusfrüchten.
Geschmack: Weich und zart mit Honig und Frucht. Abgerundet durch Noten von Vanille, Zimt und Muskatnuss.
Abgang: Weich am Gaumen. Honig- und Vanillenoten die in Malz übergehen.
