The Mortlach Distiller's Dram was matured 100% in sherry casks! There was already a 16-year-old bottling in 1992, now it has been reissued.
The Mortlach distillery is known for its special distillation process, which was developed by Alexander Cowie at the end of the 19th century. The spirit is passed through 6 differently shaped stills, separated several times by pipe bends and distilled 2.81 times. This makes the Taste of the 'Beast of Dufftown' particularly strong and muscular. In 2018, Diageo repositioned the brand and the new bottlings are significantly cheaper.

The Mortlach distillery was the first of Dufftown’s famous seven distilleries. The distillery was also the first legal distillery in the town, which is quite a distinction, especially when we consider the impressive amount of illicit activity that was occurring around the site at that time.

Kommentar: Komplexer Sherry-Whisky, in welchem der Sherry jedoch nicht die Aufdringlichkeit hat, die man von anderen Destillen gewohnt ist. Sehr schön komponiert und wenn man jetzt noch filtern und färben weg lassen würde, 5 Sterne. Leider im Preis kräftig angezogen in letzter Zeit ...
