Product description
Maclean's Nose comes from the Argyll peninsula opposite the Isle of Mull and is created by the Ardnamurchan Distillery. The label is made from the draff that is left over from the barley after production and is usually fed to cattle and farm animals. The bottling was developed in honour of 'Chief Nose' Charles Maclean in order to convince his fine nose for Scotch whisky, which the distillery has certainly succeeded in doing with Maclean's Nose. A high malt content (70%) combined with a high proportion of former sherry casks makes the blend a fruity and pleasantly fine-spicy flavour experience.

Comment: The colour is a beautiful amber.
The nose is burnt orange and lemon peels, sea spray, and subdued bonfire smokiness. There is a hint of ethanol. Citric, zesty, nutty, and woody, with notes of chocolate, tobacco, old leather, and old dusty bookshelves. Then red berries, tropical fruits, unripe pears, and green apples.
Rich, thick and oily in the mouth, creamy, dry, mineral, and salty, with bitter woody notes, vanilla, zesty citrus, nuts, liquorice, and a pleasant light smokiness. After a while, raisins from the ex-sherry casks.
The finish is medium, with the savoury and bitter notes lingering for a while on the palate.

Commentaar: in incredible blend. Forget about standard bottles of 12/10 years old from the big known corporations. This will blow all of them out of the water for an incredible price. Incredible value for money!
