Lot 40 is distilled partly in Pot Stills and matured in fresh oak barrels, which is rather unusual for Canadian whisky. The rye is then bottled as a small batch. The use of 100% rye makes it particularly spicy and full-bodied in taste.

Aroma: honigsüß, karamell, stark gesüßter kaffee und kuchenteig. mit dabei noch etwas pfeffer, gefolgt von etwas roggen. die nase ist hauptsächlich süß und mild, wobei sie eine wenig was von einem bourbon hat. trotzdem eher ein typischer kanadier im stile von canadian club und anderen.Sweet Honey Caramel Coffee Pepper Rye

Geschmack: zu beginn hauptsächlich süß mit karamell, gefolgt von kräftigen kaffeenoten und ein paar zitronen. er ist einfach aufgebaut ohne besonderen markmale und bleibt insgesamt eher fadenscheinig bis körperlos.Sweet Caramel Coffee Coffee Lemon

Abgang: dieser schließt sich nahtlos an die kaffeenoten an und wird dann säuerlich, trocken um alsdann mit einer versöhnlichen karamellnote zu vergehen. der abgang ist dabei überraschend mittellang bis lang.Grape Salt Caramel

Kommentar: gar nicht mal so übel der kanadier. er ist recht simpel, aber trotzdem lecker und gut zu trinken. mit einer affinität zu bourbons sollte man aber trotzdem gesegnet sein, um seinen spaß damit zu haben.
