Product description
The Lochlea distillery hails from the Lowlands. The Harvest Edition (Second Crop) is inspired by the late summer harvest season. The Single Malt is one of the distillery's Seasonal Releases and represents what happens between the seasons on the Lochlea farm. Traceable production from field to bottle is part of the concept at Lochlea, which runs under the motto 'dare to be honest'. The latest creation was matured in a high proportion of port wine casks, STR barriques and first fill bourbon casks. In the STR process, the inner layer of the barrel is slightly removed, then toasted and re-burnt on the surface (shaved, toasted, recharred).

The Distillery: Lochlea
The Lochlea distillery in the Scottish Lowlands has been producing Single Malt Whisky since 2018. The team grows their own grain for the Lochlea products on the approximately 90 hectares. They are particularly proud of the estate's history, which the Scottish national poet Robert Burns called home from 1777 to 1784 and also lent a hand on the farm. The distillery manager is none other than former Laphroaig director John Campbell.

Abgang: leicht bitter werdend
Kommentar: Riecht weniger nach Whisky, denn nach einem Aufgesetzten.
Aber sehr leicht - keine Alkoholschärfe. Ein ungewöhnlicher Malt - aber nicht wirklich mein Fall.
