Product description
Laphroaig is synonymous with intensely smoky malts - so it's no wonder that the Islay distillery places great importance on its own peat. The hand-cut peat is first dried for three months and then used to dry the grain on Laphroaig's own malting floors. In the live tasting, we sample three of the smoky creations: The 10-year-old classic, Lore, which is partly matured in sherry casks and quarter casks, and Select, which contains proportions of all the well-known Laphroaig bottlings (10-year-old, PX Cask, Quarter Cask and Triple Wood).

Kommentar: Das war mein erster Schotte und die erste Liebe lässt sich bekanntlich schwer hassen. Definitiv Geschmackssache, wie ja hier und sonstewo auch viele sagen, aber ich freue mich immer wieder, wenn es mal wieder Zeit ist, ihn zu probieren.

Kommentar: Mit diesem Klassiker werde ich irgendwie nicht warm... Viel Rauch, aber aus meiner Sicht kommen andere Aromen zu kurz. Eher eindimensional! Da gefallen mir andere Islay Malts anderer Brennereien teilweise deutlich besser, ebenso der Laphroaig Quarter Cask.

Kommentar: Man liebt es oder man hasst es. Wer kennt sie nicht, diese Ehrfurcht bevor man eine Flasche Laphroaig öffnet und in einer Arztpraxis steht und der Geschmack sich einfach dunkel anfühlt.
Doch vorbei! Laphroaig ist keine Medizinbombe mehr. die neue Machart schmeckt durchaus gut. Wofür man aber Laphroaig lieben gelernt hat ist weg. Das medizinische rückt weit in den Hintergrung, kein Darth Vader mehr der einen auf die dunkle Seite zieht.
