Product description
The new flagship Kingsbarns Doocot, was named after the distillery's distinctive crenellated dovecote. Distillery manager Peter Holroyd uses two yeasts to lay the foundations for this creation, which is matured for at least 7 years in former bourbon casks and STR barriques. A Distillers Yeast and a Brewers Yeast are used, which ensure sufficient output and produce lush aromas during fermentation. The first-class barrels are personally selected by Production Director Isabella Wemyss.

The Kingsbarns Distillery belongs to the Wemyss family, who also own Wemyss Vintage Malts. It is located in the east of the Lowlands in Fife, southeast of the town of St. Andrews, which is famous for its Kingsbarns Links golf course.

Kommentar: Wow! Ich hätte nie gedacht, dass ein doch recht junger Lowlander mich mal so begeistern würde: Zunächst mal ist er wahnsinnig rund - die Aromen gehen schön ineinander über. In der Nase erwartet einen ein Potpourrie aus glasierten Haselnüssen mit Banane und Pfirsich, dazu Zitrus und Kräuter mit floralen Anklängen, die ihm einen (gemeint im bestmöglichen Sinne) parfümigen Duft geben. Diese florale Note bleit auch hintergründig im Geschmack erhalten. Vordergründig hatte ich aber ein Zusammenspiel aus einheimischen Früchten und Honig auf der Zuge, das sich mit Würze und Getreidenoten kombinierte. Der Abgang fällt zunächst herb aus. Dieser Eindruck erweitert sich dann zu einer Aromatik von Zitronenabrieb und ergänzt sich später mit einem öligen Nussgeschmack, der sich im Mundraum ausbreitet und lange a
