Product description
This Glenallachie single malt is part of A.D. Rattray's Cask Collection series, in which only individual casks are bottled. They usually only produce a few bottles. All whiskies are not chill-filtered and are colourless. This cask strength bottling spent 15 years in a 1st fill sherry butt. Originally a trading company founded by Andrew Dewar Rattray, his descendant Tim Morrison developed the company into an independent bottler with its own brands.

Aroma: Klebrige Rosinennoten und würzige Facetten von Orangen mit kristallisiertem Ingwer.

Geschmack: Muscovado-Zucker verbindet sich mit schwarzer Lakritze und Maraschino-Kirschen.

Abgang: Langanhaltend mit raffinierten Noten von Wurstwaren, Leder und Tabak.

Aroma: Als erstes kommt mir ein starker Alkohol in die Nase. Der Whisky ist sehr ölig im Glas. Nach Zugabe von reichlich Wasser, was er unbedingt benötigt. wird er unruhig im Glas. Er öffnet sich enorm. Schwerer Sherry, Pflaumen Erdbeeren, Rosinen, Karamel.

Geschmack: Kraftvoller Antritt, Mokka, bittere Schokolade, Haselnüsse, Eiche (Tannine) wohl vom Europäischen Eichenfass.
Abgang: Lang und Komplex mit bitterem Kakau.

Kommentar: Habe die Flasche Verkorkstes mitten in meiner Fastenzeit geöffnet. Vielleicht sind meine Geschmacksknospen bei dieser Granate
im Moment etwas überfordert. Oder eben gerade deswegen so Intensiv. Die Alkoholstärke mit 65,6 vol% ist schon enorm. Nach 7 Jahren aber dennoch eine so Intensive Farbe und Aromenfracht vom Fass, einfach Klasse. Früher waren solche Lagerzeiten mit so auserwählten Fässern noch normal. Aber Heute. Und das für knapp 60 €. Hier geht´s in die richtige Richtung. Ich bin Begeistert und werde jetzt beruhigt weiter Fasten.

Kommentar: Ein toller Single Cask mit heftigem Antritt! Im Aroma wunderschöne Sherrytöne. Würzig. Nussig. Angenehm süß. Auch bei trotz des hohen Alkoholgehalts hält sich die alkoholische Note sehr in Grenzen.Im Geschmack und im Abgang eine enorme Eichenbitterkeit und Würze. Die Farbe ist für das Alter wahnsinnig kräftig.
