Flóki Sheep Dung Smoked Reserve is a 3-year-old Single Malt made entirely with ingredients from Iceland. There is no peat in Iceland, so food is traditionally smoked with the help of sheep dung. After the malt was kilned over the smouldering dung, this young malt was matured for another three years in oak casks previously used for Floki Young Malt.

Na ja. Tatsächlich ein gänzlich anderer Whisky. Als erste und bleibende Assoziation setzt sich Silage in der Nase fest. Ein leicht tierischer Einschlag ist nicht zu verleugnen. Ehrlich gesagt war ich nach den ersten Schlucken fast etwas angewidert. Wie bei einem Spaziergang auf dem Land nachdem es kurz auf ein frisch gegülltes Feld geregnet hat und die benachbarte Wiese gerade gemäht wird. Einerseits ein erfreulicher Geruch, andererseits möchte man einfach nur schnell weg.
Im Abgang bleiben florale und grasige Noten lange erhalten. Der anfängliche Ekel weicht und man könnte durchaus in die Verlegenheit eines zweiten Glases kommen.
