Chivas Royal Salute was originally created by the Chivas Brothers for the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II and released on the day of the coronation on 2 June 1953. The Peated Blend has been carefully crafted from hand-selected malt and grain Scotch whiskies from disused distilleries and the strong, peated character of Caperdonich malt. This signature blend bottling also comes in a hand-finished ceramic bottle. The name Royal Salute 21 Year Old is derived from the 21 gun salutes that were fired in honour of the Queen at the coronation ceremony.
